My family has come for years. We all love the tamales and use to have them fairly often as a weekend treat. We don't get to go as often now, but when we do it is a special time. Cheese tamales are a must!

We originally went to another place nearby but it was super crowded. Saw this sign and dropped in. I'm from Texas and thought I may never have good tamales again. These were in my top three favorite pork tamales ever! We got half pork and half jalep and cheese. The pork was to die for. All the tamales were good but pork stood out. The jalapeño was nice it was a full big jalapeño and lots of cheese. Spicy. Lots of good Mexican candies for sale and aguas frescas available. Whether you're in the area or live in the area definitely stop by!!! Oh and bring cash it's cash only:)

I would've given this place five stars, but a big giant black hair wrapped up in my food is just too much for me to handle.

Hole in the wall tamale joint, a few tables to sit in but mainly a take out place. Still, we sat in and were comfortable! Got way too many tamales a mixture of pork, chicken, and cheese, they were great - especially when slathered in hot sauce. Also the corn is salty tasty goood.

I have seen the promised land, flowing with horchata and agua de melon. Tamales el Patio is the definition of unassuming, I almost drove by twice, and I'm pretty sure the single table and two chairs in the "dining area" are just for show. We stepped up to the counter, and after stumbling through English before switching to Spanish (BTW that's Andrew's #1 tip for living your best Mexican food life: learn some Spanish and eat exclusively at places devoid of English speakers) we were rewarded with a glorious pile of tamales. We got a dozen each of the pork, chicken, and cheese, and proceeded to go home and perform unspeakable acts of mastication.
Tamales el Patio got everything right with these tamales. The pork and chicken were well-seasoned, but as with any great tamale, the key to success is the masa. The texture was glorious, and the smell and taste followed just behind. True tamale artists have the ability to turn something as simple as corn flour into the star of the show, and it was obvious that freakin' Michaelangelo slaved over these.
